Privacy
Plain English, no clauses. This covers people who send us a CV, people at companies we approach about hiring, and anyone who phones or emails us. If anything here is not clear, ask and we will answer it properly.
SEM Talent is a trading name of Sikandar Ejaz, a sole trader based at Apartment 7.1, The Apple Building, 270 Oldham Road, Manchester M40 7NS. There is no company behind it and no one else in it: Sikandar is the data controller, and he is the person who reads what you send.
The form asks for your name, phone number, email address, notice period, your CV and anything you choose to write in the box. Your CV usually carries more than that: work history, education, sometimes an address. We only use it to find you a job.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you sent us a CV so that we would do something with it, and recruitment is the whole reason this business exists. You can object at any time and we will stop.
We never send your CV to a client without asking you first, every time, naming the company. That is a promise made elsewhere on this site and it is the rule here too.

We get them from the company's own website, from Companies House, and from job adverts the company has published. We did not buy a list. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: offering a recruitment service to a business that is advertising roles. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations we tell you where the details came from, which is what this paragraph is for.
To stop hearing from us, reply to any email from us, or say so on the phone, and we delete your details the same day and add you to a list whose only purpose is making sure we do not contact you again. You never have to give a reason.
We call companies about roles they are advertising. Some of those calls are placed by an automated voice assistant rather than by Sikandar in person. It will tell you so if you ask it, and it will take you off the list if you say so on the call.
Calls are recorded. We record our calls so we can check what was said and improve how we do this. We also keep a written transcript and a short note of the outcome, so we know who we spoke to, what they wanted and whether to call again. Recordings and notes are kept for 12 months and then deleted. If you would rather we did not record, say so at the start of the call and we will stop, and you can ask for a copy of a recording of your own call, or ask us to delete it, by emailing s.mirza@semtalent.co.uk. We screen numbers against the Telephone Preference Service and its corporate register before dialling.
Hosts this site and receives what the forms send, then emails it on to us. Your CV passes through them.
Runs our email, so anything you send us is stored in a Google mailbox. Google Fonts also serves the typefaces on this site, which means Google sees your IP address when a page loads.
We do not sell, rent or share your details, and we do not send them outside the UK or Europe except through the two services above.
This site sets none. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no tracking of any kind. The only third party your browser talks to is Google Fonts, as above.
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, ask for it in a portable form, and object to us using it at all. Email s.mirza@semtalent.co.uk and we will answer within one month, normally the same week. There is no charge.
If you think we have handled your details badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, and you can do that without coming to us first.
